I’ve made this pair of mitts up for my niece as a Christmas gift. They knit up quickly using the ‘in the round’ method on 3 needles. I use short 20cm needles to knit mitts, gloves and mittens ‘in the round’ with Fair Isle charts.

These are made using Shetland double knitting wool from Jamieson’s of Shetland though any double knitting wool will be fine!

The diameter around palm and back of hand over widest part is 7” (18cm). Size could be larger with using 4mm needles. And you can make the cuff as long as your preference too.

I have glove boards to block my knitting on, which my dad made me. I think that once they’re washed and ‘boarded’ as we say in Shetland, they look lovely!
