Notes

The colors in this scarf remind me of a stormy Lake Ontario. I received a gale warning text from the weather service while I was casting on, so it seemed an appropriate name.

I made this scarf-sized by casting on 76 sts and placing the marker with 18 sts remaining on Row 1. Using two same-weight, same-texture yarns also changes the look. I wanted something a little sturdier and more “sporty” as BF requested a scarf to wear while running.

At the end: I didn’t do the 2-row stripes because they didn’t show up well in the variegated yarn. I simply worked four-row stripes to the end, knitted a couple of inches in st st with CC, then worked the icord bind off as written.

Finished size: 60” long x 8” wide (152 x 20 cm)

58 8-row stripes.

I soaked and blocked it, then decided I preferred the squishy and puffy stripes of the unblocked scarf, so I threw it in the dryer (it’s WM!).

I am in love love love with the magical Nicole!
