The jacket was named after a Japanese friend. She likes to wear jackets in this style which she is sewing for herself. She doesn’t want to knit.

In 2005 I downloaded the pattern.
The instructions were well exept for the sleeves. Everybody who had heard about Pythagoras and knows how to use the rule of proportion could clearly see that the measurements of the sleeves could not function in the way the pattern suggests.
Or let’s say: they would fit well on an anorectic pygmy.

After I swatched I reengineered the pattern for the fitting measurements of the sleeves and the body.
On the other hand: the rest of the jacket was a piece of cake and a pleasure to knit.
My advice for choosing the best yarn is to look for something that drapes wonderfully, i.e. something with silk, viscose or microfiber.
