Here’s another one I threw in the washer and dryer without properly blocking it. I like that the yarn gets a bit more fluffy or lofty after washing.

I prefer the way I look in a slouchy style of hat vs. a skull cap, and I liked this one immediately when I saw it. The stitches are similar enough to the All Shawl to accent it nicely without being matchy-matchy.

It’s CRAZY simple except that I have yet to teach myself how to purl, so I chose to crochet the band instead of knit it. Here’s what I did:

After following the pattern (using the recommended K hook) to make the body of the hat, I tried it on to determine how much tighter the band needed to be vs. the hat. I figured to fit me, switching to a J hook should suffice.

Round 16--ch3, dc in each st around

Rounds 17-18--ch2, (fpdc in next st, bpdc in next st) around ending with a fpdc

I LOVE it!

I would have been able to finish the project in one evening in front of the TV, but I was too embarrassed to try it on in the living room in front of my friends. Depending on your comfort level with crochet, I would guesstimate 2-4 hours for this one.

Did I mention I LOVE IT?
