Dad was originally going to knit this for himself, but work got in the way. When he needed a hat to wear on walks to the bus, I pulled this out and knit it up for him.

Unfortunately, it’s not dense enough to block out the winter drafts. On the plus side, he said it’s perfect for chilly days and the new hat I knit is perfect for freezing days.

Thoughts on the pattern

Not pleased with the instructions for inserting the brim. I wouldn’t expect too much if it were a free download, but this was inadequate for a properly published book. The pattern is not written for beginners, particularly because it doesn’t write out the pattern (not a problem for me, but may be for others).

As an example, “work in stockinette for x inches,” instead of something like, “Round Y: knit around. Repeat round y for x inches.”
