Notes

Mods:
A few extra rows in the yoke, about 12 extra stitches, to make it slightly bigger.
Body section

  • worked in stocking stitch rather than garter, still working short rows every 4sts.
  • no decreases on front edge as this was causing the front edge to gape open.
  • added decreases every 6rows at side seam line to stop the total stitches at the bottom getting too big.

Collar

  • Picked up all the way around.
  • Decided to work collar over bottom edge stitches as well - other wise the stocking stitch would curl.
  • Begining of round at center back of neck.
  • Worked in garter stitch.
  • Short rows for back of neck only, working 4 extra stitches each row. This was just to fill in the V at the back of neck a little.
  • Continue in garter over all stitches.
  • Conintue double increase at spine.
  • Double increases for each bottom right corner (as these are also 90degrees)
  • Single increase at each front neck edge, at end of yoke section (as these are 45degrees and I didn’t want the fabric to pull here.
  • Worked 9 garter ridges in this fashion to make use of maximum handspun yarn.
  • Added 2 buttons holes (over 5stitches) after ridge 8. May or may not add buttons.
  • CO knit wise loosely. Pleased with how this part came out and feel it is more flattering to my belly than the front sides sweeping away as in the pattern. The finished shape is now more of a cardigan than a shrug.
