Two of my BILs were making fun of my knitting this summer, and they challenged me to make them slippers for Christmas. This one said, “Yeah, well I want fuzzy bunny slippers!” So, these will become fuzzy bunny slippers, and pink will be involved! lol
08.30.10 - Sooo, I did not look at the pink yarn when I bought it, and it makes stripes…not exactly what I was going for, but not awful either, I am going with it.
09.02.10 - So the knitting is finished, though the bunnies still need little faces. Yay! Faces soon, I hope, but I am calling this one done!
12.28.10 - I modified the finish date on this one, because you really cannot appreciate the total cuteness without the eyelashes…these slippers got their faces, and an updated finish date, just before Christmas!
Mods - To make this slipper super-bulky, I used 2 strands of the Baby Clouds and 1 strand of the Sweet Stripes to knit on size 11 needles. It was pretty tough on my hands, but both slippers are done, and overall this was not a bad project. =) I think it’s as good as it gets when your BIL asks for fuzzy bunny slippers!
The cuffs are knit with one strand of the baby clouds on 8s…I picked up 40 sts, but decreased down to 36 over 4 rows, 2x2 rib for 14 rows, with eyelets for a cord at row 8. (Ultimately I decided against the cord closure, as the cuffs are snug enough without.)
I knit bunny ears on 8s with one strand baby clouds, 1 strand sweet stripes as follows:
All in stockinette, with one border (garter) stitch on each edge throughout. C/O 4, purl back inc 2, knit back increasing 2, work 5 rows. (8sts total)
Knit decreasing 2 at center, work 3 rows.
Repeat last 4 rows twice (2sts left), k2tog, finish off and weave in ends.
