Notes

This is my Wingspan scarf using a Zauberball fingering weight yarn that had pink, white and apple green colorways. When I was done, the wedges of color looked so much like slices of watermelon I felt I had to take it the rest of the way and add teardrop shaped crystal beads that looked like watermelon seeds. What do you think? Hungry?

Addendum…
Thanks a million to Ravelry users and Facebook Knitting group for all your lovely comments! Here are answers to the questions some of you asked…
What yarn: Zauberball fingering weight
Colorway: White/Green/Pink
Where can you get it? My fav shop is Michigan Custom Boutique in Plymouth, Michigan. Last time I was there they still had several. I also saw some yesterday at Idea Studio in LaGrange, IL.

Was it easy? It’s just garter stitch, so very easy. The technique that might be challenging for a newbie would be short rows (I use the German method, which you can find on YouTube).
Did I plan the color strategy? Yes. I wanted the green to be in the middle, balancing out the pink and white, since there is only a small amount of green in the ball. I also saved some for the inside edge so that it would look like a rind. Also, I wanted to be careful because the green is the same color as Kermit the Frog, who happens to wear a collar that has points just like the Wingspan edges, so I wanted to be sure people thought “watermelon” and not “muppet frog” when I was wearing it!
