I’ve been admiring other people’s Cameos and today I finally started my own. Quick knit so far - I have 23 picots done already but as the project gets wider, it will probably start feeling slower soon.
… Later: 36 picots done and I’m calling it a night. Easy knitting so far. I didn’t know how I was going to like the picots but they are fun to knit and look really pretty.
The Regia is in two 50 gram skeins, two different dye lots. So if the first skein runs out before the 50 picots are done, I’ll move on to the striped section early.

So the first skein of the Regia got me to 41 picots. Starting striped section.
14 striped picots done. I have to pay a lot of attention at each color change so the edge doesn’t end up too tight. Not easy but I think I’m getting the hang of it.

I’ve finished 25 striped picots. That will be it for the striped section. Will continue tomorrow with the yellow section, expecting to make 15 yellow picots. I’m figuring that 15-25-41 is a good Golden Rule proportion although I’m not sure how it will look when the longest part is also the skinniest. We’ll have to see.

Not much knitting time today or yesterday so I only have six or so of the yellow picots done so far. Really loving it already and can hardly wait to finish it up and wear it. I’ve baked up some potential polymer clay earrings to go with the shawl, too.

Finished knitting, yay! The picot bind-off is the most time-consuming bind-off I’ve ever tried. It looks lovely though, so totally worth the time. I did the bind-off on the wrong side, using stormyk9’s modifications.

Well, the shawl’s been finished and blocked for a week but I’m only now getting around to taking pictures. I was very disappointed when I washed it - the black bled onto the bright yellow lace border. So now the bright is not nearly as bright as it should be. I might re-knit the border at some point in the future if it continues to bother me.
