Notes

I finally found a way to do something similar to the (autumn-ish) “Laubfall” without knitting a skirt!

This project was inspired by the picture of the tunic in the new version of Marianne Isager’s book, using the new Peruvian Highland yarn.

This is also a great opportunity to finally work with the yarn from Finland, which is a bit like Tvinni, but thicker, and even more similar to the Henrichsen’s home brand, of which I will also use the teal shade. Good to know that the yarns can be combined.

I am using a second thread throuout the project, Alpaca 1 (and a similar Alpaca by Colourmart) for the blues and greens and lighter colors for the yellows and offwhite (including a greenish BBB Filati cone bought from Tania for 5 Euros, Spinni and Holst in Maize single-threaded - don’t ask me how I got this :-)

Stripes:
1) 2 threads of Isager Spinni in Lime (color 40) together with green/yellow from BBB Filati (1200m/ 100g)
2) Holst Supersoft in color Maize with 1 thread of Isager Spinni in Gold (color 3)
3) Isager Peruvian Highland Yarn in color Hay with Holst Supersoft single-threaded (!) in color Maize

4) Finnish Pirkanmaan in light grey with 1 thread of Isager Spinni in light grey tweed mix (left over from my Stenhavn)
5) Pirkanmaan in light Blue/grey with 1 thread of Isager Alpaca 1 in Mid-grey (402 aka 4s)

It is really crucial not to use an Alpaca thread which is too much darker than the rest - I bought an anthrazite color from Himawari, but now I can only use it in the three or four darkest colors.

Took this up again after a long break. Fortunately, I still like the color combination. But I had to realize that the armhole was too big - it looked too small one stripe before, but Marianne Isager knew (what I didn’t foresee) that the Zigzag pattern will make it deeper automatically. So I undid the 5th and 6th stripe and closed the armhole at the beginning of the 5th.

6) Pirkanmaan in dark Blue/grey with 1 thread of Colourmart Alpaca in Dark grey
7) Henrichsen’s home brand in dark Teal with Colourmart Alpaca in Dark grey
8) Pirkanmaan in dark Teal with 1 thread of Colourmart Alpaca in Dark grey
9) Pirkanmaan in light Teal with 1 thread of Colourmart Alpaca in Isager Alpaca 1 in Mid-grey. Began increases in row 1 of this stripe (16 sts).

After that, I tried the light grey and light yellow with the medium grey Alpaca 1, but frogged these two stripes again because they were too sprinkled for my taste. Strange, this looks fine in the Isager book, why doesn’t it look good in “person”?

New choices:

10) Like number 4.

11) Isager Peruvian Highland Yarn in color Hay with Spinni in color 40 (lime green).
12) Holst Supersoft Calypso with a single thread of Holst Supersoft Dark Apple (from the recycled yarn of Himawari’s frogged Laubfall).
13) Holst Supersoft Dark Apple with a single thread of Holst Supersoft Tundra
14) Holst Supersoft Tundra with Colourmart Alpaca in Dark grey
15) Isager Spinni 23s double-threaded with Colourmart Alpaca in Dark grey
16) Isager Spinni 3 double-threaded with Isager Spinni 23s single-threaded
17) Isager Spinni 40 double-threaded with green/yellow BBB Filati

22.11.2012
Not enough Spinni in color 40 for 5 or 6 rows of Garter, so the 3rd row of Garter was already the bindoff row and I ended up with 15cm of yarn left!
