How to get “pouffy leaves” (with pics!)
After the first round of decreases on your leaves, do your K2tog decreases as shown here:
On the close-up photo, the stitch fourth from the left is the K2tog from the previous row (it looks different to the others) - THIS stitch and the one to the RIGHT of it are the stitches which must be knitted together for the K2tog on this row and every following row if you want pouffy leaves.

Bought the orange wool from the clearance at Black Sheep Wools thinking I could make a pumpkin with it and guess what, it’s called Pumpkin! jack_o_lantern

How to make a child-sized pumpkin hat
Decided to make a Pumpkin hat for my seven-year old niece so started the hat with sheepshopcambridge’s beginner hat recipe which gives a brilliant chart for all different sizes and yarns.

Cast on 104 stitches for the 3-10 years size and, on a small circular needle, knit about an inch of stockinette for the turnup and then did an eight-repeat pattern of knit 11, purl 2 to give pumpkin stripes.

The Berry Baby hat is designed as an eight-repeat pattern from 64sts, so I could have just made 13 leaves from my 104sts, but I decided to decrease for the ten rows towards the end of the hat (K2tog in the middle of each stripe, then K the next row and repeat five times) until I had the required 64 stitches and then followed the decrease pattern with the stitches divided for Magic Loop knitting (this meant I didn’t have to use markers because I use the tail to show me where the start is).

Made a much shorter i-cord, purling the last row to make it look more like a stem. Added a curly tendril by tightly casting on 45 stitches and then casting off - it curls all by itself.
