Notes

I’m redesigning the original Pearl Clutcher for bulky weight yarn. There are a few reasons for this, one being that there are so many people who want to knit a Pearl Clutcher, but don’t feel like putting the in the time sport weight yarn would take to knit it. It’s understandable.

So, I’m adding this version for quick, inexpensive knitting. The yarn I used, Web’s Valley Yarns Berkshire Bulky, is good quality yarn and I purchase all of it for $60 (including shipping). You can’t beat that.

If you’re looking for a superwash version, I was considering Cascade 128 Superwash. When I priced that out, it ended up being about $112 through Webs. Of course, I am over estimating the yardage a bit and will have a more accurate calculation by the end of the project.

2.14.2013: The perfect Valentine project! The back is finished, switching to the remainder of the cardigan fronts. This is working up pretty quickly and I haven’t spent too much of my days on it!

2.16.2013: I didn’t work on it yesterday, because we moved (just into the larger side of the duplex we’ve been living in). Finished the body today. I ended up using only one ball of the peen color, but I liked the contrasting button band from the original, so I’ll probably be breaking into the second ball for that. However, if you’re making the smallest size and don’t plan on doing the contrasting button band, you only need one ball.

2.19.2013: I’ve been battling the flu for the past few days, so not much knitting. Ugh, I feel like crap and everything hurts.

2.23.2013: Finished! After getting better, I sped through the sleeves, collar, and button bands. I spent the last two days finished the seamen duplicate stitch. I was a little concerned with the colorway as I was knitting; thought it was looking kind of dull. But it’s absolutely perfect now that the seamen have been added; it really makes the cardigan pop. And just think, it only took twelve days to knit and tidy up. That includes three full days of me not being able to touch it at all.

So, photo shoot and bulky version of the pattern available tomorrow. Just think, you can have your own Pearl Clutcher in less than two weeks and for round about $60. What a steal.

And by the way, I’m naming this pattern “Pearl Clutcher: Magnum”. Lulz.

2.24.2013: Got one photo up for now. Just waiting for my model to show up… Ugh. I’d rather not model it myself, again, because I feel like people would start getting tired of seeing everything on me. The pattern is all ready to go, I just need to get these photos and the pattern will be available in the next couple of hours… Stay tuned!
