I am thrilled with how this turned out! It’s giant, but airy and light, and shows off the shifting colours in the yarn really beautifully.

I started this shawl right before going on a beach vacation last year. I knit a couple of quick repeats before going and then, on the plane, we hit turbulence and I lost my place in the chart, which resulted in having the wrong stitch counts for the lace repeat and me deciding to put it down in favour of socks. I never intended to let it languish for so long.

Anyway, I wanted a big shawl, so I knit seven full repeats of the chart before doing the edging. I had two skeins of the yarn in my stash, so I wasn’t worried, but if I’d knit the shawl as written, I would have been fine with just one (that means the last two repeats used almost half a skein of yarn. Those rows are long!) And, yeah, my shawl is big.

I used Jeny’s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind-Off for the edge (as I did with Flukra) and it blocked out beautifully. This yarn holds its shape really well, and didn’t contract at all when I pulled the blocking wires out.

Finished measurements (unstretched, after blocking): 66 inches across the top, 36 inches deep.
