When I was in the hospital post-surgery, I brought a mini-skein of Opal from my Advent calendar. It was basically my worry stone and I ended up growing quite attached to the yarn. So I decided to turn my little ball of yarn into something more “normal” to be attached to - a softie!
I’m using this pattern because I like the head shape best of the ones I’ve looked at. I’m going to knit this in the round though.

Okay, not enough yarn. I ripped back to 25 sts and knit straight for a tad before decreasing and starting the head. Hopefully this will give me enough yarn.
Also, why is everyone judging my snake? ‘Ew, a snake, yuck.’ Dude, it’s a tropical striped friendly snake! No nasty faces!

Okay, I vastly overestimated how far I needed to rip back so I’ve finished the snake and have tons of yarn leftover. So I’m doing a little surgery on my surgery snake. I snipped in the middle (where I don’t need to worry about increases or decreases) and am going to knit in all the extra yarn. And my snake gets longer too!

Added over 6” of middle to my snake. Stuffed him with some plastic pellets and kitchenered his abdomen up. How appropriate!
He’s very adorable. I used 9mm safety eyes and oops, I put one in the wrong place. (I haven’t even taken my narcotics today so I can’t blame that!) So now he’s a little goofy eyed. Oh dear.

Okay, more surgery was done to fix the eye and a tongue was added and now he’s all done! I love my new little friend!
