Notes

17-Apr-2014 - I’ve frogged this sock a couple of times since I started. It’s my first time trying fair isle with a magic loop, instead of DPNs, and I’m having a horrible time trying to get the tension right where the needles change to stop it either puckering or laddering, but I think I’m getting there on my third attempt. There’s a bit of a ladder part way down, but I think I can close that up with a couple of duplicate stitches. Fingers crossed there won’t be any more!

The yarn for this pattern was given to me by my Reddit Secret Santa, and I have to say, I am really loving the colours in the zauberball.

23-Apr-2014 - finally finished the first sock’s leg. I’m loving the zauberball’s colour changes. The sock has a different heel to what I’ve done before, but the slip stitch pattern is easy enough, and is making a much denser, and less stretchy, heel than the kind I usually do.

27-Apr-2014 - Heel and gusset done, and about 1/3 of the way through the foot. I missed the exact number of rows for the heel, so just knitted it until it was 5cm. The end result is I have fewer stripes in the gusset than the pattern, but it looks ok, and fits fine, so only a minor problem. I’ve made a note of the number of repeats of the eye-of-partridge heel pattern I did, and how many stitches I picked up at the side of the heel flap, so that I can do it the same length on the other sock.

I’ve gotta say - I am still loving this pattern - and the wrong side looks pretty nice too!

30-Apr-2014 Finished the first sock! I have small feet, so I missed off the last couple of bands of white rows, but the foot is still just a bit too long. It feels fine to wear though, I just need a larger sock blocker for it. I’m a couple of inches in to the second sock now, although I spent most of today working on the shawl I’m making for my gran.

14-Jun -2014 finally finished! I got a bit distracted by a shawl I was knitting, and the Tour-de-sock and nerdwars projects, but I got there in the end. Overall, pretty happy with how they turned out. Can’t wait for them to finish blocking so I can try them out.
