Notes

This will be my first adult size sock, top-down, with a short row heel. Wish me luck!

9/2/11 - I had no idea I could have a pair of hand knit socks in 10 days! I am thrilled to have finally learned sock knitting - and when I put them on I was in love with how cozy and awesome hand knit merino socks are. I will be making many, many more I’m sure!

11/16/11 regarding gauge question

It appears I got 7.5 sts per inch, although I just took that measurement after I was wearing them today, so it could have been 8/in. before I put them on ;) . I did use a larger needle, U.S. 2, but the cascade yarn is actually lighter than typical fingering IMHO. If it helps, I wear a US 9.5 or 10, with a higher arch, but thin ankles and midfoot in comparison to the standard measurements Cat gave in her book for that size. It was given as a pattern for an “8.5 inch midfoot”, which according to her table is more like a US 5 shoe size, but it fit my 9.25 inch midfoot fine, FYI. It was my first adult sock, but happily I think I’ve found that the inherent elastic quality of knitting helped me out here!
