Like a turban for your toes!

The slipper’s sole is knitted with doubled fingering side to side and then the body of the slipper is knit with doubled yarn in the round after picking up from the sole. The twisted knot is knit with a single strand.

The yarn pooled a little around the body of the foot, perhaps due to an unconventional width (around the foot in a transverse direction rather than its circumference).

First draft: I used JSSBO on the edge of the slipper, and left a tail to adjust the BO as called for in the pattern (wise…!).

The bind off edge rolled, and was so stretchy that it didn’t feel like the slipper would stay on.

So I redid the bind off as a traditional bind of in a size 7 needle, and it works well for me.

I tried to remember the Kitchener stitch while finishing the knot while knitting in the car, and made a hash of it.
Techknitter’s great explanation to the rescue. I hope her description of the process will instill it into my mind so I no longer need instructions to get it right.

August 30, 2013 - the second slipper is complete, I just need a size 8 foot to model it, my size 12 foot makes it look skimpy since it stretches so much to fit!
