I’m calling these “replacement socks” because my sister has taken to sending me photos of blow-outs in previous socks I’ve knitted her. This is my response to one email, that was just a photo of a hole in the sole of a sock.
I’m calling them “possum socks” because the yarn has a little bit of possum hair in it. It gives the yarn and sock a fuzzy factor.
She likes soft, and she likes earth toned. I am a little worried these soft-soft-soft socks will wear quickly, but I know she will enjoy them.
My mods: I didn’t double the yarn, I didn’t do the color work, and I didn’t follow the pattern for the cuff.
For the cuff, I did K2 P1 ribbing, and I switched to the size 3 needle for the calf after 5” of ribbing up the ankle.
Something about the way the instructions are written confuses me…and I seem to have muffed the instructions on the sock rotations before the heel. When I turned the sock I think I got the sole and instep needles backwards/upside down. So, the garter section is higher on the foot compared to the pattern--at least it really doesn’t matter, as long as they match.
