Notes

Overall - like the yarn OK. I’m starting to sour on beautiful skeins that don’t knit up as nice as they look loose. I am not in love with the sort-of-self-striping part…tho I do love the heel and the midfoot section where the yarn dye doesn’t pool into blotchy stripes.

Toe: Garter Toe

Arch Expansion

Started the K2 P1 ribbing at one corner of the garter toe with P1 K2 P1. I expanded the ribbing in the central upstream “panel”.

One modification of the master pattern - markers A & B on either side of central stitches (K1 P1 K2 P1 K1) with the increases happening within the K1’s.

I used a “string thing” to count through the 3-row repeat for adding stitches for the Upstream expansion. Usually, I count finished rows. Due to the location of the string thing (just ahead of the first increase location) I’m counting the “current row”.

Heel: Reinforced

Cuff

I followed figarofigaro1’s Silk Lava Socks modification, adding ribbing around the ankle above the heel gradually to match the diagonal pattern of the Upstream increase.

To give the cuff even more stretch, I switched to knitting Continental style (which for me has a looser gauge) three rows into the fully ribbed section.

Cast Off: Jeny’s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind Off, in the K2 P1 pattern.
