Fell in love with the pattern, purchased the wool on line. Since, despite my best efforts, I usually seem to knit more loosely than my swatch would suggest, I think I’ll probably do the 34/smallest size.

So-that paragraph up there above this one ^ -- you see what I wrote back when I started this? That was a FAIL. Gauge is gauge. Do not f&k with the gauge gods or they will get you. This sweater is done and it is gorgeous. Mecha is among my favorite yarns now. But the sweater doesn’t fit me. It doesn’t fit my 15 year. It doesn’t even fit my 11 year old, who is quite small for his age and really wanted it. I’m sending this sweater on to a friend in hopes it will fit her three year old.

You would think I would know better after close to 50 years of knitting. Apparently not!

Footnote: Today this sweater found a home with a really wonderful 7 year old girl, of whom I am extremely fond. I hope she is going to enjoy it a lot.
