This is my first attempt at working from a chart…
8/3/14 - Completed the setup chart and first repeat of the flower chart. I was stumped when transitioning to the first row of the flower chart until I figured out that the entire chart gets repeated on either side of the center stitch (not just the repeat section). Now it’s going smoothly! :)
8/4/14 - I finished two more repeats of the flower chart. So far so good. This yarn is somewhere between a lace and fingering weight - I think it’s well suited to the pattern!
8/5/14- I’ve done 6.5 repeats of the flower chart. It looks like a waffle right now! I can’t wait to see how this looks once it’s blocked. I LOVE the color of this yarn - my photos don’t do it justice. Will try to get more accurate photos soon.
8/6/14 - Finished the flower chart and did the first six rows of the border charts. Row 7 will be my first attempt at nupps! This is going more quickly than I expected…
8/8/14 - Blocking! My nupps leave a lot to be desired, haha. It didn’t grow as much as I expected with blocking. I think if I choose to do this pattern again, I’ll definitely make a larger size. It’s a beautiful design!
Finished dimensions: 35” x 19”
Version 2!
Begun on August 13th and finished on August 18th.
Same yarn, same colorway. I used close to the entire skein, maybe 530 yards?
Changes made:
-Size 6 needle
-10 repeats of flower chart instead of 8
-ktb, k2 for the edge stitches instead of slip 1, k2 (this was to increase the give along the top edge. In my first version, the edge was a little too tight.
-REAL NUPPS! 7 stitches each.
Finished dimensions: 52.5” x 24.5”
The bottom four photos are of the second/larger shawl!
