Notes

So happy with everything about this sweater! The pattern is great: because of the construction in pieces (as well as circs for sleeves and main body), it is possible to try it on at different stages and customize it, and I ended up making quite a few adjustments here and there as I went along. Did I keep notes? Nope - I thought I’d never forget, of course! But because my gauge was slightly off even with a smaller needle, I made size S for top front and back, and saddles, but also picked up fewer stitches for the sleeves.

A cable needle was a must for me - I couldn’t work the 4sts cables with purls without it, but life became easier when I discovered the U shaped cable needle (instead of the ‘bent’ one), which you can just hook to your work when not needed, and is less fiddly to use.

The yarn is exactly what I had in mind, and I’m so grateful to Rosa Pomar for her precious advice. It’s rustic enough, it’s amazingly warm, it’s surprisingly light so that the finished sweater doesn’t feel hefty and bulky despite the dense patterning.
