Notes

I feel pretty certain that somebody else who is currently lost in time has made stockings like this. Who knows, perhaps they used the same machine so though this largely came from my head it has roots in the past which start with a line in a 1932 Jimmie Rodgers song.

I thought I oughta make a project page for this separate from the prototype.

These are really nice and easy, and sexy! They really stretch to fit your legs unlike solid stockings. I am tempted to write it out for handknitter too as it strikes me as being a good no brainer sort of knit.

I call these wearable. I got inspired by Jimmie Rodger’s Blue Yodel No. 10 which has the line “It ain’t your drop stitch stockings, Or your blue buckle shoes.”

I shouldn’t repeat myself too much so go see Drop-stitch stockings(prototype) for more info.

Oh I figured out that my legs need about 120 grams of this yarn. My socks grew 6-8 inches in length and from calf width to thigh width when I dropped the stitches.

Because of the simplicity and simply sexiness of this pattern, I am currently working on writing up a handknit pattern. I am also working on writing it up for CSM.
