T8R3 Challenge (Nerdology): VILLAINS VERSUS HEROES
Team Macabre

“Gill-man”, aka the “The Creature”, is the titular villainous character of the 1954 science fiction film Creature from the Black Lagoon and the two sequels Revenge of the Creature (1955) and The Creature Walks Among Us (1956).

The last surviving member of a race of amphibious humanoids which lived during the Devonian age, the Gill-man lived in a lagoon located in an unexplored area of the Amazon Rainforest. After having found the fossilized remains of another Gill-man, a marine biology institute funds an expedition to the Amazon in order to find more remains. The Gill-man reacts violently to the intrusion and begins killing numerous members of the expedition. The creature builds a makeshift dam to prevent the boat from escaping, and then abducts Kay to his underwater lair.

Although the original film is in black and white, the creature’s scaly skin in the movie poster is green, just like my cowl. It is my opinion a FACT that the first Creature film is the best monster movie ever made.

In the show As Time Goes By, Lionel has written a book called “My Life in Kenya” about his days as a coffee planter in Kenya. His agent/publisher, Alistair, sets up a photoshoot for the book jacket. He persuades Lionel to wear a safari costume, hold a rifle, and stand in front of a “jungle” background with his foot on the head of a tiger skin rug. Lionel is clearly less than pleased and tells Alistair he was a coffee planter, not a hunter. As you can see, the fake “jungle” background is green, just like my cowl.

This is such nice yarn! It’s super soft, springy, and the dye did not run or bleed at all when I blocked it.
