Notes

So, in April I’m going to be 40 :O
How on earth did that happen??!!

I’ve decided I want to make myself something lovely for the occasion. I’ve been in love with this pattern since it came out and my favourite colour is green, so that’s easy :)

I consulted the stash before rushing to the shops, and found some Rowan Calmer in a lovely green.
I was saving it for something special… this may be just that something.

3rd March: Casting on - oooh exciting!

I wanted a slightly lower neckline at the front, so from row 6 onwards I cast on 2st (instead of 4) each time, until I had the required number of stitches stated for end of row 11. This meant I did 6 extra rows before casting on the rest & joining in the round.

15th Mar: Not moving very quickly on this, as I’m also doing a test-knit at the moment.
I’m finding it a very enjoyable/interesting knit, and such a clear & well written pattern. :))

23rd Mar: Just below the bust now. The stretchy element in this yarn combined with the pattern makes it very fitted around my bust - hope it will be ok.
I’ve just finished another jumper which is also fitted (shifting test) - so unlike me - am I having a mid-life crisis LOL? (or maybe it’s the new me).

6th April: I’ve paused at the waist to do a bit of each sleeve. This is because I’ve noticed a tendency for top down all in one sweaters to ride up once the sleeves are knitted, making it shorter than planned! Luckily I’ve always managed to block the length back in, but I’ve got a feeling this yarn won’t block like that.

I cast on 4 (8) stitches at underarms instead of 3 (6), as my gauge is a little bit tighter).
As this is a cotton yarn and I’m making it as a top for warmer weather, I’ve decided on 3/4 sleeves.

Grrrrrr. Found a knot in each ball of yarn - in fact I had three in one of them!!! $/~#!

24th April: All knitting finished - I finished all edgings with 2x2 ribbing.
For my ‘slightly lower’ neckline I needed to pick up a total of 100 stitches around - but it may have needed to be more if my yarn wasn’t so stretchy (one good thing about using this yarn is that you don’t have to do a stretchy bind off).

29th April: It’s finally dry, and I’ve sewn (almost) all the ends in.

End result - I love it!
Despite the knot issues, this yarn is really great both in comfort and looks (which is good - as I have more in my stash!).
