Notes

EDIT: i remade this hat, and have a more detailed list of modifications on my julie's chapeau project page.

3/24 about two rows from the end of knitting. i’m a little worried about blocking. can i flat block a hat?

3/27 guess so! a-fixed the loverly button. love the yarn! quel luxe! i was really excited about the button, and i think it turned out beautifully! almost wish it wasn’t for someone else… sigh. might re-make for myself.

mods to make it slouchy follow knittingdropout's specifications, which i’ve used a couple of times, and it’s always turned out beautifully. ^_^

i knit the band straight, for the button. used short rows for the front half to make it sit back on the head properly, and using a yarn wrap-around the RS purl stitch so there wouldn’t be any gaping holes. after the button band k2, m1 usually gives the right amount of slouch (i only really use dk or aran weight for hats). slightly more if it’s stockinette, slightly less if it’s patterned.
