Really fun quick knit, this is for little Jo’s 3rd birthday. She loves Ariel so much, so this will be really fun for her for playing dress up or a blanket.
16/03/16 Jenn sent pics of little Jo today, she loves her mermaid sleeping bag!
I ran into some trouble with the fin at the point of the centre increases. I couldn’t keep it in pattern. On page 3 of the pattern abbreviations it says to M1 by knitting into the front and back of the stitch, I think it should be M1 by picking up the bar between the last stitch knit and the marker. I didn’t realize till I’d fudged mine but hey ho the rest of the fin was plain sailing. And the pattern has been updated now.
Just knitting the headband and flower. Changed to a 6mm needle. For the flower centre I chain stitched 10 then rolled in a circle and sewed to the centre of the flower.
The bag measures 26” before I cast off for the tail Josie is 22” from waist to floor so I allowed some wiggle room so she can stretch her toes out! It’s quite stretchy too, so should be a good size.
She’s had this for a few weeks now and Jenn can’t get her out of it, ….seems to have made it upstairs for bed time!
Jo has an Anna dress and a Cinderella dress and I took her Mums old dance costumes over last time to add to her dress up trunk. She loves to swim and this is her favourite picture because her hair looks like Ariels in the water.
Colour of the yarn is closer to the second picture down. Used almost all of the 3 balls Red Heart Boutique Unforgettable, yarn was held double, only about a yard left.
Used 1.5 balls of the Patons Classic Roving. Single strand.
