Notes

I got gauge using a US 8 needle. Used US 6 for sleeve cuffs.

11/10/2019

CO using Cable cast on & worked ½ of 2 ribbings (16 rows).

11/11/2019

CO & worked 2nd ½ of 2 ribbings.

12/22/2019

I decided to compile the notes that I’d handwritten on the copy of the pattern I printed and from Notability.

I have 1600 yds and I hope that is enough yarn.

  • I worked ribbing for 16 rows.
  • I worked the Cable Motif 9 times before dividing for the upper body.

Upper Body
Section 1: Complete Cables
I worked 3 more repeats fo the cable chart (14 repeats total; 20” from CO edge.)

Section 3: Double Seed Stitch
Worked double seed stitch (rows 1-4) 2 times (Armhole measures 7.25”.)

Section 4: Garter Stitch
Worked garter stitch row 1 and then rows 2-3 2 times (4 full rows of garter stitch; 2 garter ridges.)

Back Short Row Shaping
I used Japanese Short Rows.
Instead of binding off shoulders, I worked 1 additional garter stitch row and placed stitches on a holder.
I did a 3-needle BO using a Lace BO to join the shoulders.

I worked the 1st sleeve before finishing the neck because I’m afraid of running out yarn.

Sleeves
The armhole is bigger than it should be, I picked up 76 sts around. Then I worked decreases every 6th round until 40 sts remain. The sleeve was too long, so I’ll have to rip back.

12/24/2019

  • Ripped out sleeve.
  • Ripped out 3-needle BOs at shoulders.
  • Ripped out shoulder short rows & neck shaping.
  • Ripped out garter stitch.
  • Ripped out double seed stitch.
  • Ripped out ribbing band.
  • Ripped out 2 repeats of cable motif. (12 total reps rem.)

02/15/2020

Picked this up again. Started with the transition to ribbing.

02/17/2020

12 rows double seed stitch =~ 6” relaxed.

02/18/2020

I decided to rip back to remove 4 rows of double seed stitch. And I left shoulder stitches live to work a 3 needle bind-off.

10/19/2020

Picked this up again & picked-up & knit 72 sts around 1st armhole.

I worked the sleeve until 44 sts remained. Then I worked 5 more rnds in st st. I worked a final dec rnd as follows:

K5 (k2tog, k9) 3 times, k2tog, k4. (40 sts rem).

10/24/2020

Finished decreases on first sleeve & will begin ribbing right away.

12/21/2020

Finished sleeves. I bound off the cuffs with a cable bind off for 2x2 rib.

12/22/2020

Picked up sts for cowl neck. I used the same bind-off for the neck that I used for the sleeve cuffs.

12/25/2020

Finished knitting and bound off neck.

01/01/2021

Started sewing in ends.

01/04/2021
