Notes

This is a fantastic pattern/design as is evident from the thousands of Ravelry members who’ve already knitted the fingering weight version. This new version of the pattern is for worsted and DK weights. Super simple and quick project. It’s very warm and cozy knitted up in this yarn. I know I’ll be knitting more than one of these - probably many.

I held 2 yarns together to get the worsted weight gauge.

I used this provisional cast on (crochet hook method).

Sawyer said she’d like a cowl in gray, black or navy that fits close to the neck. This seems to fulfill those requests.

I did all the stockinette sections with decreases because I wanted it to be as close to the neck as possible but still be able to pull over the head. I managed to get 4 lace sections with a little of the Phydeaux yarn left over and about half a ball of the lace. I tacked down the live stitches with sewing thread which worked well and looks neat.

Although the lace yarn came from China, the label says that 48% of the fiber comes from Africa. The yarn label also says “Bug Free.” That made me laugh. Let’s hope so! Fiber seems to be unknown, although it says 52% long hair. I assume that means mohair (goat). The rest is most likely wool. The label also says that it’s water resistant with only 10% absorption. I linked the yarn to another similar Celine Lin Mohair, even though the one I used has a different label and different percentage of fibers. Here’s a link to the one I bought on Amazon which is not yet in the Ravelry yarn database.
