Notes

My first completed Niebling piece. I am so proud and so into Niebling now. OMG, another addiction!

Started with the Emily Ocker cast-on. It was a bit though to cinch, but everything looks tidy and even now.

I am using the written instructions and I did cut my yarn at row #74. But next time around, I will use the charted version instead to avoid this.

I did crochet stitches in the triple YO and I am using the original edging instructions.

newbie booboo: I should have used a K3tog in the 2nd acorn (instead of the slip1-K2tog-pass stitch over) to have the correct orientation in my decrease. Shame on me. I let it pass.

to avoid at all cost: I franticly threw the piece in gentle tepid suds, anxiously prancing around to get it blocked, all the while forgetting to pull out my #80 cotton thread lifelines. Once wet, theses where a &#)($&#($)&# to pull out. Cotton on cotton doesn’t slip at all when wet. I can be such a dunce at times. I’m just grateful I didn’t damage the piece.

Now I just need to darn in the ends and get a nicer final pic.
:)

yield: 52g - 52g on 2.25mm for 122 rnds + bind-off
dimensions: 20” diameter unblocked
dimensions: 23 1/2” diameter blocked

BO: did a crochet bind-off of 3 stitches together for solid portions and 4 stitches together for hex. mesh using 9 chain stitches on a 1.25mm hook.

18/02/11: I am now at row 92 out of 122. Almost there but gotta be careful not to drop a stitch.

23/02/11: I am at the start of the border. Wow, this wasn’t all that difficult after all.

1/3/11: Spent two days on row 114. Geez I’m glad this is over. Resolved my dilemna with the help of Rav community and the crochet stitches solution. Thanks all for being so generous in your comments and notes.
