Notes

Wanted to try this yarn. Montego Bay Scarf looks like a suitable pattern. My colors are not the pretty blues and turquoise of the Montego Bay, so it’s named after the Farmington Bay, one of the bays of the Great Salt Lake, a great place for bird watching and just around the corner from my house.
The pattern as written creates uneven edges on the sides. Didn’t seem to bother hundreds of knitters before me, but I had to change that :)

For the love of Ravelry, I even went to the Great Salt Lake to take some pictures. What can I say… It only looks great on the map. In reality it’s a big salty mud-puddle :)

The scarf is great, though. It’s light and airy, perfect for spring. Loved the yarn!

I cast on 35 st due to DK yarn used. Was going to knit until run out of yarn, didn’t plan on the tassels at first, but got really tired of knitting, besides the scarf was getting too long. Three strands of 12” precut strands are used for each tassel, 17 on each end. Randomly added beads to the the ends for some weight and interest.

Update 03/30/10:

If you follow the pattern, you’ll end up with the following on the sides -
4 stitches (including k2tog) before YO on the right, 4 on the left after YO;
Next right side row, though, will look like this -
5 stitches before YO on the right, 3 on the left after YO,
Making one side to be 4,5,4,5,.. stitches before YO,
While the other will be 4,3,4,3,….
It could easily be solved by knitting 2 stitches instead of 4 on the 4th row of the pattern before starting the lace,
thus making both sides to be 4,3,4,3,… stitches around YO.
