Test knit for LAylor13’s Faberge

This is an absolutely beautiful shawl, and the yarn & beads are a perfect match. I’m going to wear this all winter.

Beads: 6/0 Miyuki Seed Beads - Silver Lined Capri Blue

Strongly advise doing the swatch as per Laura’s instructions - great for auditioning colours & beads, and for understanding how the different stitches work together (and how tight to knit the braid, and loose to do the lattice). I figured out it was easier for me to keep the overlay tensioned correctly by:

1. Doing a double YO before the sl3 on Row 7
2. Dropping the double YO on the way back on Row 2

Also recommend writing down which colour is the background and overlay - I missed the first colourchange while knitting overtired and had to tink back 2 hours of work the next night >.<

Got a little delayed when I ran out of beads on the final row just before Easter and had to wait over a week to get more. Finished today, and blocking.

Glad I ripped back & did it again - the braid looks absolutely beautiful in the slightly variegated Aguas! Pics when it’s completed.

I did the first braid in around 2 hours on Monday night … then realised I’d used the wrong colour yarn. Considered pushing forwards but realised the colour changes wouldn’t work. Tinked back the braid, starting again with the correct Aguas yarn. 33.6g Prussian Blue remaining after completing the ruffle.

Halfway through the ruffle. I love how pretty the Prussian Blue knits up.
