This is a 2012 trifecta block, because it meets three of my craft goals!

Personal crafting goal # 1 (Year of Projects): This block is part of my exploration of bullion stitch crochet.

Personal crafting goal #5 (and Surmount the Stash): This block is made entirely from acrylic stash yarn.

Personal crafting goal #6 and charity project: This block will be going to Heartmade Blessings as part of the Crochetlist March 2012 charity challenge. I’m more experimental with colors when I don’t have to weave in my own ends :).

Other notes: I’m using my classic gold Boye K hook, purchased at Woolworths while I was in college (early ’90s).

Update 2/18: What a fun pattern! This one definitely kept me on my toes, and I really love Donna Kay Lacey’s inventiveness.

I used the Cape Cod Blue as Color A, Bikini as Color B, Black as Color C, and White as Color D. The white was tough to photograph, but I think you can get the general idea from the pictures.

Since the charity challenge calls for 12” squares and this pattern is only 10”, I’m going to have to add some extra rows, which is kind of sad because I like this block a lot as is! I think I might use a black border.

Updated 2/19: Finished the block by adding a black border. I’m making 3 more coordinating blocks for the charity challenge.

Updated 3/9: I just learned that Heartmade Blessings doesn’t accept blocks with any black yarn. D’oh! So I frogged this beauty because I want to make all of my blocks with the same 4 coordinating colors. Back to the drawing board, er, I mean, yarn stash!
