Notes

First things first; the YARN! Oh my! Julie Asselin’s beautiful Sevilla worsted yarn comes in a variety of speckled delights. This one, It’s My Party, has many subtle touches of colour which are as beautiful as the Northern Lights. It’s a delight to work with and becomes so soft and squishy once soaked. I’ll most certainly be purchasing some more in the future from the wonderful L’OisiveThé tearoom in Paris.

Ever since knitting up Tincanknits’ Rosewater I’ve become very fond of her patterns. I like this cardigan which fits any age from 0-6 months to fully-grown women. I followed the pattern to the letter although I made sure the sleeve cuffs measured, like the hem of the cardigan, 2.5” instead of 2”. I also made fewer buttons holes - only six - than the original pattern which has nine. I also made it longer in body for my tall almost five year old.

This is the perfect pattern for those wishing for a worsted yarn quick knit which holds, nevertheless, enough interest with the lace work leaf, buttonbands and Kitchener stitch grafted underarm seams.

I was quite enchanted by Sketchbook’s version which has only three buttons. My original version also had three buttons but I changed my mind, ripped out the buttonband and added more buttons, all of which are vintage, dating back to the 1970s.
