Cast on 33 sts with Twisted German cast-on.
Join with a Slip Stitch join (32 sts).
Knit Twisted Rib (k1tbl, p1) for 16 rounds.
Knit one round. Change color and knit 3 more rounds. Then follow the fried chicken thumb gusset. After finishing the gusset, do two or three inches of the hand (until about the second knuckle of the index and middle fingers) and then do a one-row buttonhole for seven or eight stitches (enough room to pass two fingers through). Then finish the rest according to pattern.
