Quick and simple gift knitting
03/18 Cast on using long tail method. Found that the initial cast on was too tight to stretch for a 24” circular needle, so used 2 circs for the first few rounds, then transferred to 1 circular needle. I suggest you cast on very loosely or use stretchy yarn to compensate. 03/21 Finished the first sleeve and attached it to the body of the sweater. Was having trouble visualizing how to do so, so I referenced Jared Flood’s article on bottom up raglan sweaters in Vogue Knitting from 2009 that can be found here. A glance at the diagrams was just what I needed. Onward! 03/23 Plowed through the rest of the sweater today! Bound off using Jeny’s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind Off, which I recommend especially for babies and their giant heads. :)
Used chocolate brown buttons to match the Swirl Baby Cap.
