Darn you Knit Picks and your excellent art and photography. Whoever was the Art Director on the illuminated lines book deserves a cookie or a brownie or a cookie brownie hybrid.
Note about the stitch markers. They are 6mm washers. I plan on picking up some smaller ones for projects like this in the future. they are $.08 for the local hardware store.
The first part of the project wasn’t as difficult as I feared. The provisional cast on want well but I dropped a few stitches and I had to do a little repair.
Edit 1/8/14 The color work is going well. The chart is well written but, it can be a little confusing going across multiple pages. I’m going to relay it out in Photoshop or Indesign.
Edit 1/13/14 Row 20 os done. The bottom border is complete and I’ve started on the center motif. I’ve added an updated photo.
Note: I weighed my Yarn and I still have 32 grams on first ball of black so, I think the kit came with way to much yarn.
Edit 1/18 Just starting row 50. Row 32 of the central Motif. I’m still on my first ball of black ~22 grams left.
Edit 1/22 Finished Row 63, row 45 of the center motif. ~16 grams of black remaining of ball 1. I’m progressing a bit slower then I hoped. I think I’m burning out a bit. Once the center motif is done I think things will move more quickly.
Edit 1/25 Finished Row 75. Row 58 of the center motif. I cut back my expectations and decided to take a bit of a break. Doing that helped me get my enthusiasm back for the project.
Edit 1/28 Finished row 91. The center motif is finished. I’m excited to get to the applied i cord. This will be my first time doing that technique or any i cord. 17 rows of color work to go.
Edit 2/1 Color work is done. I still have a few grams of black from the first ball, probably not enough for the Applied i cord.
Regarding yarn use . I’m still on my first ball of black. I don’t have an exact weight because my scale has decided to shuffle off this mortal coil. I hope to attempt resuscitative measures soon.
Edit 2/10 Everything is done but, the strap and sewing.
Edit 2/13 Starting the strap.
I have marked the bag as finished. All of the knitting is done and I have friend lining the bag. I’ll post completed images when it returns
