This was my first large project from my handspun and I was amazed at how alive the wool felt as I knit with it. I’ve knit wool socks for years, but the commercial wool yarn felt pretty much dead, while my Border Leicester was still lively and it gave me a really cool feeling to knit with it. I knew from the first row that I’d enter this into the fair and that it would win first. I was hoping for Best in Show, but that prize went to a more complex shawl knit with commercial yarn. Oh well.
