Notes

These Sidestream socks were really hybrids. i used Cat’s basic toe up construction and arch expansion, but like the last pair of socks I made, I did an afterthought heel. On my last pair, the jury was out. I am so used to doing a gusseted heel that the afterthought was something I had to think about and override my instinct in order to make. I didn’t really like it. So, when making these, I thought I would try it again. I still don’t like it. I wish I didn’t have my long history with the heel I’m so accustomed to making because I think I might enjoy the afterthought more.

In support of afterthought heels, they fit very well, even though they look a little funny before you wash and block your socks.

At some time in the future, I’m going to try the heel in the Crystal Shorty Socks by Lynn DT Hersberger, from Knitty.

As soon as my last Christmas knitting is finished, I’ll be casting on more socks. You can never have too many
