I made the dress version of this pattern in the newborn size. It seems really tiny, but not being in possession of an actual newborn human (or a reasonable facsimile) I won’t be sure if it’s too small until its designated new person arrives. (And it’s a gift, so here’s hopin’…) I got gauge, so that should hold some magical power over the outcome, right?

I made a few modifications to the pattern. After I finished the twisted rib trim on the neckline and bound off in pattern there was no stretch at all and I was concerned that it might not go over a baby’s head, so I ripped it out and knit the neckline trim with plain 1x1 ribbing and bound off using Jeny’s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind-Off. I am much happier with the result. I also used plain ribbing and Jeny’s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind-Off on the sleeves.

I made a matching shrug using the yoke of this pattern, and a hat using the lace stitch from the body/skirt. Also a soaker and socks from the same yarn.

Both skeins of the Welsh Coast colorway were very short (8 gm between the two of them), but that’s my only complaint with regard to the yarn. I love the colors and it’s so very soft.
