Notes

I designed this hat to go with the Frills! baby top/dress. The lace chart referenced is from that pattern.

Gauge: 5 stitches and 6 rows/inch over stockinette.

With CC, C/O 60 stitches and join in the round.
Rnds 1-6: k1, (p2, k2) rep to last stitch, k1.

Change to MC.

Rnd 1: Work row 1 of lace chart 5x.
Rnd 2: Work row 2 of lace chart 5x.
Rnd 3: Work row 3 of lace chart 5x.
Rnd 4: Work row 4 of lace chart 5x.
Rnd 5: Work row 5 of lace chart 5x.
Rnd 6: Work row 6 of lace chart 5x.
Repeat rounds 1-6 an additional 4 times.

Crown decreases:

Rnd 1: (k1, s2kp, k1, p2, k1, s2kp, k1) 5x.
Rnd 2: (k3, p2, k3) 5x.
Rnd 3: (k3, p2tog, k3) 5x.
Rnd 4: (k3, p1, k3) 5x.
Rnd 5: (s2kp, p1, s2kp) 5x.
Rnd 6: (k1, p1, k1) 5x.
Rnd 7: s2kp 5x
Cut yarn. Thread tail through remaining 5 sts and pull taught. Weave in ends.

If I were to make this hat again I think I would add a row or two of k5, p2, k5 between the ribbing and the start of the first repeat of the lace chart. Going straight from the ribbing to the lace makes the ribbing pull in a funny way.
