Shawl #1 of 12 in 2012 ! Counts for 500m+ shawl.
When I first saw the original colorway, I couldn’t help but to see it as “black & white & red all over” -- I’ve been wanting to make a project with that title for a long time (yes, I’m a dork).

Enter the perfect black and white yarn found on a fellow raveler’s stash page, and the red yarn that’s been in my stash for ages, and the project is born!

As it turned out, I started and practically finished the Hunger Games trilogy in my iPad with all the awesome garter stitch yumminess going on. I definitely like the shawl more than the books! ;)

Loving my awesome red lace chiaogoo needles … I see me buying a whole set of these eventually.

finally blocked! : turned out much larger than I expected. Measurements forthcoming. I did end up messing up some of the striping … but once I realized it, it felt like too late to rip out and do over, so I just fudged and it worked out fine. Love the shawl!

The back side : worked out pretty well, though I rarely do fair isle work, and especially given the st st/ g st combo. Still, it was okay.

day 2 progress : wow, I almost knit the whole shawl today … while reading The Hunger Games on my ipad. Guess that gives new meaning to “black and white and red(read) all over” !
