the wedding photos are a testament to the laughter that abounds in our relationship ~ after 20 years it still hasn’t stopped :)
pattern gifted to me by benzngems ~ thanks, Mimi :))))
yarn was a destash purchase from jeffinambler (thanks, Jeff!) ~ the color of our wedding flowers (salmon/pink/orange)…July 23rd is our 20th anniversary ~ hoping to have this done in time to wear it on that special day
this will be a grand experiment ~ not sure how a Guernsey is going to translate to lace weight yarn…I’ll let you know
Project Notes:
- shooting for something similar in size to this project so doing the math and figuring out how to adjust cast on # and # of rows to make my yarn work with this pattern (my advent shawl had a cast on of 87st and a total of 771 rows :: I have 100 less yds to work with for this shawl but the advent measured 83” long after blocking which is really long for my 5’2” height so I can probably figure closer to 700 rows to adjust for shorter length as well as lesser yardage)
- after much deliberation & trying to keep the ratio of chart A/chart B/chart C as similar as possible to the original design here’s what I think I’m doing:
TOTAL OF 684 ROWS
:: long tail cast on + 5 rows of garter (6 rows total)
:: Chart A - row 1-78 x3 then row 1-58 x1 (292 rows)
:: Chart B - row 1-24 x1 (24 rows)
:: Chart C - row 1-8 x1 (8 rows)
:: Chart B - row 1-24 x1 (24 rows)
:: Chart C - row 1-8 x1 (8 rows)
:: Chart B - row 1-24 x1 (24 rows)
:: Chart C - row 21-78 x1 then row 1-78 x3 (292 rows)
:: 6 rows of garter (6 rows)
:: loose bind off
TOTAL OF 88 STITCHES CAST ON
:: increasing “garter frame” to 6 stitches each side (an extra 6 stitches)
:: doing 12 stitch repeat 6x instead of 4x each row (an extra 24 stitches)
:: pattern cast on is 58 so 58+6+24=88 stitches
