measurements:
neckline: ~ 160 cm / ~ 63.0 inches
sidelength: ~ 100 cm / ~ 39.4 inches
height: ~ 66 cm / ~ 26.0 inches

construction:

  • following the construction of YouKnits Example Triangle Shawl 2 knitted from the center of the neckline and made from two triangles side-by-side
  • at the neck side of the shawl a roll brim; the brim curls and gives a softer edge; I didn’t sew it on; the roll brim is made with 5 knit (edge) stitches on either side of the row, the stitches are cast-on provisionally and later grafted invisibly with a mattress stitch
  • in the center between the two triangles I knitted 1 knit stitch
  • I didn’t use the triangle YouKnits from the YouKnits lace basic set, but adapted the YouKnits 032b #05 and 065c #07 to triangles. It was easy because both have lace diagonals which I could follow

notes:
* provisional cast-on:
5 roll brim sts (= edge sts) + 1 pattern divider st + 5 roll brim sts (= edge sts) = 11 sts

* knitting:

  • started with stitch 8 of row 17 of YouKnit 032b #05, continued using the yarn over diagonals as triangle increases
  • continued following distribution chart, always using the yarn over diagonal as triangle increases at the sides
  • bound-off and blocked

I grafted the provisional cast-ons invisibly with a mattress stitch
- and now I love my shawl :)
