Notes

FINISHED after a year’s hibernation.

Want to see how the fabric develops, hopefully drapy and not stacked in stiff rings.

I know this yarn softens and spreads some after blocking, and chose to downsize needles because I don’t like the loose appearance of big stitches on the US 5 (per pattern).

Five lace repeats - picot finish top and bottom.
Would prefer (upon reflection) a curled stockinette top edge.
CO 136, 22st=4”
Mods:
5-row stockinette band - decrease in rows 2, 4 to 130 st.
1st lace band: 11 rounds.
2nd stockinette band - decrease in rows 2,4,6 to 120 st, then rows 10,12 to 114 st. 12 rows.

Making this for : Dr. Marianne in Salzburg. She was my yarn benefactor last spring, donor of my first sock yarns and alpaca. I think this colorway is perfect for her - but the scarf I knit from the previous skein, her son hijacked en route! This time, a more girly style.
She’s rather short, so the stitch bands are reduced (lace/stockinette=11/12 vs. 12/14).

I downgraded the happiness level: at the point of starting the second lace round, I suspect that the contrasting bands of stitches are just too busy for this highly color-changing yarn. Actually it’s come out looking like weird Fair Isle patterns… rather intriguing?

Knitting done, still have to sew down the fold at the top edge, then block.
