Got the ‘fleegle beader’ for this. Didn’t like it. Too snaggy on the yarn and too fiddly. Gave up after two rows, went back to my crochet hook. At least I have a nice little plastic tube with a cap to store my bead hook in now.

I think my tulips are hybrids of some kind. But, hey, rotate the photo at 180 degrees and I can see tulips now. Before I was seeing christmas trees, church spires, snake heads, even rocket ships. Not sure this will be the blocking I stick with. It still doesn’t look like the diagram very much or the other FOs. Will see what happens when it needs washed. Who knows what it will be the second time around?

Finally named this one with the confirmation that it is indeed tulips. It’s from Tom Robbins’ Another Roadside Attraction, set some 200+ miles north of me (we do have some peculiar place names here in Washington). I can’t remember the exact context, as it’s been 40-ish years since I read the book. But there is a reference to Humptulips, up on the Olympic Peninsula, and a character muses, Humptulips? Reminds me I always wanted to do a Dutch girl. So there you have it. Humptulips in heathered blue.
