cast on the 305 sts with long tail cast on by spit felting both ends of the yarn together, thereby making the ball of yarn one continuous loop. made a slip knot and cast on, then broke the non-working yarn.

there are 50 short rows, each begins with a yarn over. so by the end of the short rows there are some 355 sts on the needle. keep this in mind when choosing a needle length! it gets crowded.

ha ha, and then you double the stitch count and do more short rows. 643 sts at the end of the second lot of short rows.

18 may - balked at idea of knitting 100 bobbles so decided to skip them. would have taken up too much yardage too. ready to double st count. might leave eyelets open.
19 may - finished knitting second skein, definitely not finished scarf. will finish second lot of short rows and then assess whether big/wide enough.
