Gauge is unimportant for this project! Yay!
Crochet: Beanie, Toque
This hat uses a combination of double crochet and front post single crochet worked into double crochet to create a unique look of parallel train tracks. It sports a faux ribbed brim. The project is suitable for an advanced beginner to master new techniques.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
Spread on a dark background, these little stars shine through. Easy enough project for a beginner to master, yet pretty enough for anyone to knit and wear. A knitted in I-cord forms the top edge of the shawl, and a gently curving garter stitch edging forms the bottom edge.

Composed of an assortment of simple stitches layered by rows, this shawl is fun and will expand your crochet experience!
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
This shawl made in layered sections of complimenting stitch patterns is easier to make than it looks! It is shown in four colors but can be done in two or three.
Knitting: Beanie, Toque
Use Judy’s Magic Cast-on to start this hat at the top and work the entire hat, including the hidden turning, in one piece! This pattern is not as hard as it looks. The hat is self-lined.
Knitting: Mid-calf Socks
Toe up with delicate, crossing cables, this is a fun pattern for an Intermediate Knitter. The Afterthought heel makes sock-knitting easy!
Crochet: Ankle Sock
Here are some cute sporty socks crocheted toe-up so you can add contrasting heels and toes. The heels are modeled after the knitted version of the afterthought heel.
Crochet: Beanie, Toque
You want to wear a hat. Your hair is all over the place. The wind is blowing but its warm. What are you going to wear? Try this summer slouchy hat or cute buttoned cap in Color Dance Yarns “Tiny Dancer”, a luscious, smooth 7 ply superwash merino wool with a hint of nylon for strength and durability.
Crochet: Shawl / Wrap
I wanted something small and light--something that would just barely cover the shoulders, be lacy and yet still offer a bit of warmth. Wear this on Prom Night or make these up for the bridal party. This is an easy to crochet pattern.

In Seattle we are known for our wet weather. Rain drops not only fall from the sky, but from every convenient overhang, including leafy spring trees. The cables on this hat are reminiscent of rain drops running down your window panes.
Knitting: Cowl
“Cast on for a quick buttoned cowl with a cute ruffle at the bottom. This is an easy to knit project suitable to a beginner or expert alike. Finish it off with a one-of-a-kind button.”
Knitting: Cardigan
Oh what fun it is to knit up a colorful baby jacket using those long color variegated yarns! I used Zauberball 100 for this project, but any of the fingering weight Zauberball’s would work. Use two colorways for maximum contrast. This pattern is for intermediate knitters.
Crochet: Throw
A rank beginner can make this afghan--it’s all done in double crochet using easy to remember multiples of 12. I used 5 semi-solid colors of Tango worsted weight yarn from Color Dance Yarns.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
This is a very simple pattern that just looks complicated. The result is a light weight wrap that floats on your shoulders.
Knitting: Cowl
K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple Stitches) is my favorite kind of knitting. Just cast on and go! This scarf is knitted in a simple seed stitch, worked in the round, so when you are finished casting off, you are done!
Knitting: Scarf
Linen stitch takes a bit to knit, but boy is it worth it! I wanted a scarf unlike every other linen stitch scarf out there so I came up with this one. The little ruffle around the neck edge makes it a bit more feminine for office wear.
Knitting: Beret, Tam
I designed this pattern for the 2013 South Sound Yarn Crawl. I liked it so much I made 2 hats in 2 different yarns--both turned out gorgeous. Liberty Wool offers a huge selection of long variegated colors, so it was easy to find a color that had yellow for the center of the flower. I love Gradient, so I also made a hat in that yarn as well.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
I love this shawl! I love making it and I love wrapping it around myself during cool weather. The diagonal shaping is perfect for wearing without the shawl slipping off the shoulders, while the simple texture pattern gives body to the knitted fabric. The yarn drapes and I love seeing the colors cascade down. It’s fun to make and fun to wear--wh...
Knitting: Cowl
This is a great pattern for an easy cowl. You have the choice of either a buttoned version or unbuttoned, one piece version. Either way the cables are easy and can even be done without using a cable needle. The unbuttoned version uses a provisional cast on and is grafted using Kitchener stitch. Can be worn over the head as a hood or around the ...
Crochet: Brimmed Hat
This is a very easy-to-crochet hat. If you can do a single crochet, you can make the hat. I used a wonderful self-striping yarn by Cascade called Casablanca, that produces a soft yet firm texture that holds up perfectly in a hat. The brim gently rolls to frame the face.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
This shawl is softly draping and colored like it’s namesake. The Urania moth happens to be an incredible combination of lime green and charcoal--truly a wonder of nature! The shawl can be done in any number of cool contrasting color ways using the “long color repeat” variegated Kauni Effektgarn.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
47” circular needle is required for this project. Variegated or solid color yarns may be used.

Knitting: Containers
I designed this pattern for the 2010 South Sound Yarn Crawl and it was a major success--plus FUN to knit! Simple enough for a beginning knitter. Make several out of leftover wools or use Zitron Nimbus for its great decorator colors.
Knitting: Bib
When my kids were babes learning to feed themselves, they often ended up with a lapful of toasted O’s. I designed this bib with a built-in pocket to help capture those little escaped cereals and whatever else might be lap-bound! Cast on at the top of the pocket and work short rows to make a graceful curved bottom edge. Then work back up to a st...

Start knitting at the top and work your way down to a loose mock roll that fits over sweater cuffs. This pattern is easy enough for beginners.

Knitting: Vest
I designed this garment to be a stepping stone for newer knitters to take the plunge into knitting garments--but, the vest turned out to be spectacular for any knitter!
Knitting: Bookmark
This is a fairly simple lace design that works up quickly into a lovely bookmark. Quick to knit, make up several for gift giving!
Knitting: Beret, Tam
This beautiful hat looks complicated but is really fairly easy to knit. Using circular needles it is knitted in the round, but also back and forth using a technique called “entrelac”.
Knitting: Vest
Use the “domino theory” to build this vest block by block. After the initial block is done, each successive block is picked up and worked off of the previous one. There’s a special trick to the neckline shaping also--turn a square opening into a graceful shawl collar. Have fun with this one!
Knitting: Beanie, Toque
This roll brim hat for babies is knitted in Cascade Fixation, the stretchy cotton yarn. Change hat size by changing needles. Easy enough for a beginner. This makes a great gift at a baby shower!

This is a super simple striped scarf with instructions for beginners on how to make and attach fringe.

Knitting: Beanie, Toque
This has been one of my most popular patterns--mainly because you get five hat patterns in one and they are all easy enough for a beginner. This is a quick knit for anyone!
Knitting: Beanie, Toque
This is a relatively easy eyelet pattern that looks great in this wonderful hand spun bulky yarn.
Knitting: Headwear - Other
I sort of invented the name of this hat/scarf combination. The hat itself is a simple cap, with long scarf ends coming off of each side. They are long enough to wrap around your neck for a furry embrace.
Knitting: Ankle Sock
Easy stretchy toddler socks that won’t fall off with a short row heel.
Knitting: Beanie, Toque
Just in time for Fall--a pumpkin hat for your little one! Easy to knit in Cascade Yarn Fixation.
Knitting: Scarf
I set out to design a pattern for a scarf to match our wonderful “Hat of Many Colors” and came up with this. There are three scarf patterns included and they are very beginner friendly!
Knitting: Scarf
The cables on this scarf can be viewed from either side (yes, its reversible!), which makes it perfect for soft, warm wraps around your neck on a chilly day. Simple enough for beginners to master.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
This relatively simple pattern uses a variety of gorgeous yarns in combination to create a spectacular wrap or shawl. Join the yarn leaving long tails and then tie fringe to match around the edges of the garment. Easy enough for a beginner.
Knitting: Market bag (slouchy)
Join the trendy crowd and knit your own felted bag. This project is simple and can use a variety of wool yarns and novelties to add some spice. The sample was knitted in Donegal Tweed--the variegated effects were achieved by pairing up two different colors and then changing one of the colors.
Knitting: Mid-calf Socks
Generate your own sock pattern based on your measurements. Use any size of yarn, work a small gauge swatch and make custom fitted socks for you or anyone else.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
This is truly a wonderful wrap. Made in variegated yarn, it is very flattering to any shape. The simple texture design adds interest. It is shown in Noro Silk Garden, but it could be knit in Trendsetter Tonalita or K1C2 Paintbox for equal effect.
