This hat arose from a service learning project my co-teacher and I do with our fourth graders. We teach them how to knit this felted hat on circular needles because the kids’ mistakes are almost “erased” by the felting process. We then donate all the hats to two charities that help low income families and the mentally ill in our area.

For the rainbow colored version pictured on my projects page, I used one skein of Crystal Palace Mochi Plus in the rainbow spectrum colorway; not a Cascade color.

Available in one size; to make smaller or larger, will have to change needle size.

Dale of Norway Fulk works equally well, as does the Peer Gynt sport weight yarn.
