For most people the first signs of Spring are a welcome sight. Crocuses poking their leaves through frost, trellises going back up in gardens, and (likely) a fair bit more mud and rain.

We are living in a time when many of us might feel disconnected, uncomfortable, lonely, sad or anxious. COVID-19 (and 2020 on the whole) has affected us in different ways, but we have all been affected. My hope is that this pattern offers relief and community further proving that “We are all in it together.”

With its openwork pattern, Kouyou is the perfect accessory for transitional Autumn days whether spent taking in festive fall activities or to toss on while running errands.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
The name for this shawl comes from the Icelandic word for “slopes,” of which this shawl has plenty. Knit on the bias, this shawl leans right, then both left and right and finally dips to the right at different rates to create a unique shape that compliments the gradual slope of color.

Like cherry blossoms falling from the trees, Haneka is delicate and light. The kanji for the word Haneka itself (羽華) incorporates the characters for “feather” and “flower” and imparts thoughts of springtime and summer breezes. Knitting: Throw
Most knitters I know have a bounty of yarn scraps left over from completed projects or an abundance of minis from swaps and fellow yarnie friends. What do you do with these scraps? Make a scrap blanket of course! This project makes excellent use of ALL of the leftover yarn. Each new yarn is joined at the end of the one before it.

I originally discovered The Yarn at Home Mom yarn when my son sent me on a quest for rainbow yarn with “gold sparkles” for a pair of socks. I was blown away and from then on I was hooked on Shannon’s squishy and vibrantly colored yarn!
